The Quote Entry View

This being your first time using Covered Calls Plus, you will be prompted to enter some basic values that will be applicable to all new and existing positions being considered. When Covered Calls Plus is first opened, the dialog boxes for entering these values will automatically open after the number of shares to purchase is entered on the Quote Entry View. These values can be changed at any time in the future by selecting 'Tools/Stock & Option Spreads' from the Quote Entry View menu. These stock and option spread values need not be exact, but should be a close approximation. This is also the case with the 'Brokerage Commission' dialog which can also be viewed using the 'Tools' menu item, but will open automatically the first time the program is opened. If the check box near the bottom of the 'Brokerage Commission' dialog box is checked, the values entered will become the default for the next position being considered, whereas the values in the 'Stock & Option Spreads' will automatically be used in any new positions.

Using the 'Tab' key to navigate through Covered Calls Plus can save you a lot of mouse work, especially areas with multiple entries like the Quote Entry View.

When you return to the Quote Entry View, the cursor will be blinking in the text box to the right of the label 'Buy',  enter the number of shares to be purchased in this cell. Tabbing over will cause the 'Brokerage Commissions' dialog to open unless the check box in this dialog box was checked earlier. When this dialog box is closed, or the tab key is pressed, the cursor will move to the Stock offer text box. Entering the Stock offer will complete the needed Stock information, tabbing moves the cursor into the Call information frame, to the right of the 'Sell' label. Enter the number of Call contracts to be sold to open. Tab over to the first call quote entry cell, and enter the Call bid quote. Continue tabbing over and entering the remaining Call bid quotes in the appropriate boxes. In this particular case using Qualcomm, there was no  quote for the Nov-45, so that text box was left blank. Once data entry is complete, the Quote Entry View will appear as shown below.

If protective Puts were also being bought, follow the same procedure of tabbing through and entering quotes, until all the desired Put quote entries have been entered. Don't forget, because you are buying Puts to open, the quote entered would be the Put offer, not the bid, as was done with the Call quote entries. Following the last quote entry, hitting the tab key will highlight the command button labeled - 'Go To the Evaluation View'. Click the button, press the enter key, or chose 'Go To/Evaluation View' from the menu.
